In what is inarguably Andy Lieber’s better half Valerie Lieber drove a 2006 Mitsubishi EVO IX RS borrowed from Good Friend Jarrod Hoops to the 2008 X Prepared Ladies Solo Championship. Running on Hoosier tires Valerie bested all other competitors. She is a member of the Saginaw Valley Region SCCA.
RR: Is this your first attendance at Nationals?
VL: No. I have attended four other times.
RR: Is this your first national championship?
VL: Yes.

RR: What was your favorite memory of the competition?
VL: The great friends & the moment I realized I won. ?
RR: What do you think was your key to success?
VL: Careful Preparation (hmmm, I wonder where that comes from? Ed.)
RR: Who has most influenced you?
VL: My husband Andy, and Raleigh and Velma Boreen.
RR: Who inspires you?
VL: Raleigh & Velma Boreen
RR: Do you have any special pre-race routine, or any superstitions you follow?
VL: Just relaxing & listening to music.
RR: Do you have any driving aids or tools you use to help you?
VL: Aggression and Cushions so I can see where I’m going.

RR: What do you think you do differently than your competition?
VL: Having great people to prepare the car.
RR: Have you attended any driving school?
VL: No
RR: Describe your driving style.
VL: Aggressive and smooth.

RR: What was your first –and favorite autocross car?
VL: I’ve only raced Evos and had to learn to drive a manual in order to do that. My favorite would the white 2006 Evo.
RR: If you could change one Solo rule – either for your specific class or in general — what would it be?
VL: As for the rules, that would be the expertise of my car preparers Jarrod and Andy.
RR: Who would you like to thank for your success?
VL: First and for most I would like to thank my husband, Andy, for teaching me how to drive a stick shift and always believing in me. I would also like to thank the Boreens, the Tipples, the Feighners, Lisa Krueger, Mike Burgess, the Tates, & Jennie Roach for all their support throughout the years.
