As the owner of a successful Mitsubishi dealership, Showcase Mitsubishi, Andy Lieber is no stranger to the charms of the 2006 Mitsubishi EVO IX RS on Hoosier tires that he co-drove with Jarrod Hoops to the 2008 Street Mod Solo Championship. Andy resides in Michigan and is a member of the Saginaw Valley Region SCCA.
RR: Is this your first attendance at Nationals?
AL: No, I have attended thirteen National Championships.
RR: Is this your first national championship?
AL: This is my second National Championship. I won E Street Prepared in 2005.

RR: What was your favorite memory of the competition?
AL: The great friends.
RR: What do you think was your key to success?
AL: Careful preparation.
RR: Who has most influenced you?
AL: Raleigh and Velma Boreen along with my good friend John Tak.

RR: Who inspires you?
AL: Raleigh and Velma Boreen.
RR: Do you have any special pre-race routine, or any superstitions you follow?
AL: Nothing other than good car preparation.
RR: Do you have any driving aids or tools you use to help you?
AL: Just look ahead and know the course in your head.

RR: What do you think you do differently than your competition?
AL: Careful and organized car preparation (I’m beginning to sense a theme here. Ed).
RR: Have you attended any driving school?
AL: No.
RR: Describe your driving style.
AL: Aggressive and working on being smooth.
RR: What was your first –and favorite autocross car?
AL: The first was a 1986 Toyota MR2. Favorite all Evos…
RR: If you could change one Solo rule – either for your specific class or in general — what would it be?
AL: Being able to use aftermarket shims under Honda valves instead of cylinder head replacement.
RR: Who would you like to thank for your success?
AL: Raleigh and Velma Boreen. They never stop impressing or inspiring me. John Tak for teaching me a lot about good car preparation and testing practices and procedures. Jarrod Hoops and my wife Valerie for putting up with my craziness…..
